Explore El Amigo Mar Y Tierra Restaurant

Tucked along Stage Coach Trail in Brownsville, El Amigo Mar Y Tierra Restaurant at 5001 Stage Coach Trl offers a welcoming spot for seafood and Mexican-inspired dishes that keep locals coming back. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warm hospitality; the staff is attentive and courteous, ensuring your visit starts on a pleasant note. One standout feature is the complimentary chips and fresh homemade salsa, served warm and ready to enjoy before your meal, accompanied by a comforting cup of seafood broth that sets the tone for what’s to come.

Seafood lovers will find plenty to savor here. The fried fish is particularly notable, prepared just the way many families like it-crispy, flavorful, and satisfying, making it a regular favorite for returning diners. Fish tacos also earn high praise, offering generous portions and vibrant flavors. While some dishes, like fried shrimp, may occasionally come out a touch over-breaded, the overall quality and freshness shine through, with soups that are rich and creamy and seafood cooked to order for maximum taste. Even simple requests, such as having avocado on the side or tweaks to garnishes, are handled thoughtfully when communicated, though the kitchen has occasionally served elements separately from the main dish.

Beyond the food itself, the atmosphere at El Amigo Mar Y Tierra is casual and friendly, ideal for a relaxed lunch or an early dinner, though it’s worth noting that the restaurant closes relatively early in the evening. For non-Spanish speakers, ordering can be a unique experience, sometimes requiring pointing at menu items or pictures, but this adds a charming, authentic touch to the dining experience. Drinks like the michelada complement the menu, though minor variations, like missing garnishes, occasionally occur, highlighting that the kitchen takes care in preparing each item freshly rather than rushing service.

With its combination of well-loved seafood, homemade touches, and friendly service, El Amigo Mar Y Tierra Restaurant provides a satisfying taste of Brownsville’s coastal flavors, making it a go-to spot for families and seafood enthusiasts alike.

First of all, our server was the sweetest girl. Very attentive and courteous. The only reason I'm giving the service 4 stars instead of 5 is because the kitchen sent the michelada I ordered without the garnish, and served the shrimp, cucumber, and lemon in a bowl on the side halfway through the meal. The fish tacos were great and good portions. Wonderful flavor. The only thing I would change is using mozzarella as the cheese for the fish tacos Very weird. Also asked for the avocado on the side. It was not All of these things fall under the responsibility of the kitchen. Fried shrimp was over breaded and a bit bland. On the upside, the complimentary chips that come before the meal are made and tasted fresh. The salsa was homemade, and when refilled, it was warm and fresh. You also get a warm cup of seafood broth before the meal with the chips. Overall, it was a good experience, but could be great with a few, but important changes.

Very good food, soup is rich, creamy fish is tasty. They make fresh to order. I wish they can provide online order, because I don't speak Spanish, which I have to go inside to place order by pointing the food's name or pictures, then wait for the food there. So I will only go when I'm free before evening(cuz they closed so early).
